Great spot with a beautiful view—perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner by the water. The oysters were super fresh, and the seafood chowder hit all the right notes, rich and comforting. The slow-roasted beef chuck flat was a standout—so tender and flavorful. On top of all that, the service was absolutely top notch. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Tofino.

Shelter Restaurant in Tofino gave us the greatest experience on a rainy day. From the moment we stepped in, the cozy cabin vibe, crackling fireplaces, and view of the stormy coastline set the perfect mood. Drinks were solid, food just as good—comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want when it’s pouring outside. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. It’s the kind of place that makes you want it to rain, just so you have an excuse to linger a little longer. Absolutely loved it.

A true gem! We came two days in a row and would’ve come a third if we could. The mussels were out of this world – tender, juicy, and swimming in a broth so good we wanted to drink it like soup. Every dish was beautifully balanced and bursting with flavor. And the service? Warm, genuine, and effortlessly professional. You can feel the love in both the kitchen and the front of house. This place is a must for any food lover passing through!

We had a great experience at Shelter! The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely - especially the patio and the dining room section has beautiful views of the harbour and waterfront, but even the bar and booth area is all very nice, especially at sunset. Service was great, as expected. They brought us complementary bubbles since we were celebrating an engagement which was such a lovey bonus! And the food is reliable very good. The Brussels sprouts, calamari, and slow roasted beef chuck were great. The salmon and the fish and chips were good, and the Thai curry could’ve used a little bit more spice and flavour but still great. None of the desserts sounded super exciting to us. Overall, would probably come back :)

Delightful restaurant with an excellent view. Do not be discouraged when entering as one winds through the casual bar to the restaurant proper. A very pleasant area opens up to the outdoors on nice days along with a waterside patio Thank you to "surfer Sarah's for making it such a special occasion. Selections oriented toward west coast specialties such as fish and shellfish. Nicely presented visually and gastronomicaly A good choice for a more upscale dining experience. Not pretentious, but comfortably elegant.

Amazing casual restaurant with fresh, high-quality seafood. The drinks, oysters, tuna appetizer, Brussels sprouts, seafood chowder, and salmon salad were all excellent—especially the seafood chowder, which really stood out. One tip: we were first seated in a corner near the bar under a loud TV, which would have ruined the experience. Thankfully, we were able to move to a quieter table in the back. Make sure to ask for a more peaceful spot if you’re looking for a relaxed meal.

Amazing restaurant! Travelled all the way from Vancouver and decided to book my anniversary dinner here. We ordered the oysters, salmon risotto, and shrimp fettuccine. All the dishes were incredible, along with the view and service! Sarah B was our server and turned the evening into one we will never forget. We booked another reservation before leaving the restaurant, and will be sure recommend this place to friends and come back every time we visit Tofino! Thank you Sarah!

It has a great view and incredibly tasty food. We made a reservation, and our table was ready when we arrived. Every dish we ordered was impressive, each one paired perfectly with its unique sauce. The steak was cooked just right, and we’d definitely order the crispy Brussels sprouts again and emptied calamari so quickly. The Tofino Surfer Bowl was fresh and paired well with the veggies. The only slight downside was the clam chowder, which was a bit salty, but still enjoyable overall. The staff were decent and attentive enough. If you’re looking for a fancy restaurant in town, this one will definitely satisfy you!
